- A number of our churches have their own small church bookshops but close
to Wokingham is a branch of small chain of Christian Bookshops, QUENCH
- Christian Aid
is a Christian organisation that insists the world can and must be swiftly
changed to one where everyone can live a full life, free from poverty. They
work globally for profound change that eradicates the causes of poverty, striving
to achieve equality, dignity and freedom for all, regardless of faith or nationality.
They are part of a wider movement for social justice. Christian Aid provides
urgent, practical and effective assistance where need is great, tackling the
effects of poverty as well as its root causes. Many in CTW undertake door
to door collections during Christian Aid week.
- Oxfam is a global
movement of people working with others to overcome poverty and suffering.
- The Alpha COURSE is
run by a number of Churches in the Wokingham area. It is a structured very
friendly course where people can learn and ask questions on what it means
to be a Christian. Where they can ask all those awkward questions. We do not
claim to know all the answers but we know where to look.
- The EVANGELICAL ALLIANCE is
an umbrella body for many Evangelical Churches in the UK. A number of Churches
in the Wokingham area Church Members. Many of the Christians within the churches
are individual members.
- Stop the Traffik
- MAKE
POVERTY HISTORY brings together a wide cross section of over 200 charities,
campaigns, trade unions, faith groups and celebrities who are united by a
common belief that 2005 offered a unprecedented opportunity for global change.
This is a continuing campaign on the hearts of many.
- OAKWOOD
YOUTH CHALLENGE is a local Christian charity dedicated to the physical,
social and spiritual development of young people. The Oakwood center is on
the south east side of Wokingham. It provides facilities & instruction
for outdoor activities, primarily aiming to serve youth aged between 8 to
18 through links with: Local schools, Churches, Youth Groups, District council(s).
All activities are run by qualified A+ (Adventure Plus) staff, & all sessions
(excluding water sports) can be run on-site. All the necessary equipment is
provided for all activities, details of specific requirements per session
will be discussed when booked.
- YELDALL MANOR
is a local alcohol and drug rehabilitation center located just North of Wokingham
at Hare Hatch, Twyford.
- TEAR FUND is an organisation
addressing the relief of suffering and offering hope in many parts of the
world. Here you can discover how your support brings transformation to the
lives of some of the world’s poorest people.
- SPRING HARVEST is
a holiday with a difference. It could be described as the evangelicals 'spring
conference'. It is attended by over 70,000 Christians, at Minehead and Skegness
over the Easter Holiday.
- PACT - 'Parents
and Children Together' is a professional agency working on behalf of the (Anglican)
Diocese of Oxford in the area of nurturing family life. It has been operating
in the Thames Valley for nearly 100 years.
